Who are we and what are we about?

The Weatherbury Singers is a community choir and was formed in 1997 by the then organist of St Mary the Virgin church in Puddletown, David Walbridge. The choir was instigated to give local people, of all ages and musical abilities, an opportunity to sing and perform a wide variety of music together and this remains the group's remit.

In 2005 the Singers became a society, operating within an agreed constitution with an active committee. At this time a Musical Director and an Accompanist were enrolled to enhance the group's progress.

Now, some fourteen years later the choir, consisting of forty members from towns and villages across Dorset, join together to perform a repertoire which includes a wide selection of music, including choral, musicals and some popular songs.

The choir's main activities centre on two concerts annually whilst a 'Come and Sing' has also been part of the calendar in recent years. The choir sings at private functions and weddings in addition to supporting major church festivals in the south of Dorset.

Fund raising for local charities is an integral part of all of the choir's major concerts.
