Welcome to the Weatherbury Singers

'LOVE AT CHRISTMAS'  - Another varied concert from The Weatherbury Singers

The Weatherbury Singers' Christmas concert for 2015 was held at the Old Brewery Hall, Ansty on December 5th and entitled 'Love at Christmas'.

The first half of the performance included an eclectic mix of styles and genres, including Gershwin - S'Wonderful; Lennon and McCartney - If I Fell; a new choral piece by Malcolm Archer - I Have Called You Friends; and another modern piece from Glee - 'Somewhere Only  We Know'.

As dictated by the time of the year the second half had a distinctly Christmas feel and again included traditional and modern works: Jubilate Deo by Halmos, Just a Tale by Goodall, the traditional Gaudete and In Dulci Jubilo and to finish, the ever popular Merry Christmas, Everybody by Holder.

A good evening was had by all.

A raffle was held for a new charity - The Dorset Stroke Support Association - and the monies raised were added to from a collection taken at the Royal Oak in Milborne St Andrew where the choir sang carols prior to Christmas. The two events yeilded a total of £265.50.

Currently the choir are practicing Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and other choral works for a performance at the Lighthouse Theatre in Poole on April 23rd when they will join with other choirs in the Dorset area, invited by the Guild of Singers, to their bi-nnual choral event.

The choir is seeking to expand the numbers of tenor or bass singers and would wlecome such candidates to join the choir for rehearsals of the above.
